Stedelijk Museum Annual Report 2005 (with Esther de Vries)
In september 2006 we designed the annual report the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. We started with the nine letters in the name 'stedelijk' and the organization?s nine departments. As in illuminated manuscripts, illustrated capitals introduce each of the nine sections of the report. For each department we designed a special pattern and used in it's section. The all come together in the 'Chronicle'-part of the report, printed on newspaperlike-pink paper. The report was selected for the best book designs in the Netherlands and got chosen at an international book jurying in Leipzig as one of the fourteen Sch?nste B?cher aus aller Welt (Most beautiful books from all over the world). In their report the jury said, ?Geometric patterns run through the book, giving it an intercultural grace derived from Arab sources. This is only enhanced by the Japanese manner of binding. With this, the Museum's cultural policy underscores its function as an institution of cultural exchange.?
